MASK ART
Mask art can be pointed out as a traditional art of the people of Sri Lanka. Mask art is associated with 3 dance traditions of the Sri Lankan society.
Mask art is well known in the Ambalangoda area in the Southern Province. This mask art has also attracted foreigners. Natural colors are often used in the coloring of these masks, which adds a natural and cultural touch to the mask.
The low country dance tradition can be pointed out as a dance tradition that often uses masks.
The use of Sri Lankan masks can be divided into 7 parts.
1. Monster faces.
2. Sunny faces.
3. Divine person faces.
4. Animal faces.
5. Devil faces.
6. Mythical faces.
7. Column faces.
Masks are also used for peace rituals. To polish the emotional look and taste of the character through the use of masks Is possible. Sometimes funny and sometimes dangerous,
It also reflects the disgusting taste.
Sokari and Kolam dramas can be pointed out as folk dramas that highly reflect the sense of humor. Sometimes the mask artist uses masks to ridicule the subtleties of society. However, mask art can be pointed out as another valuable art form in Sri Lankan art.
